The claim that injecting pointless (and probably shitty) sex scenes into books like Pride and Prejudice and Jane Eyre is in the name of making them “more accessible” is, basically, disrespectful shit. Bullshit with a capital B in fact. It’s purely to mimic the success of 50 Shades of Grey and they really have no qualms what and who they fuck over in their quest for sales.

If modern readers are too ignorant to read a book for something other than sexual gratification they should stick to reading Mills and Boon. Someone else’s work deserves more respect than this.

Enjoying all the nuances of a book sometimes takes, you know, EFFORT. Sometimes a book isn’t just going to lay its guts out in front of you, and you have to think and dig deeper. Sometimes it requires thought and introspection. And in our quest to dumb down everything beyond recognition, we’re fucking up great literature. But this isn’t even about dumbing stuff down, is it? It’s just about sales. Money. I like (well-written) porn as much as the next person, but I don’t need someone to shit all over someone’s carefully crafted work to get it.

So fuck you, 50 Shades of Grey, you started all of this nonsense  And fuck you very much total e-bound for being disrespectful, moneygrubbing twats.
